ATTENTION DOG OWNERS!!! We will be hosting a Dog Obedience class in November, instructed by Karen Graves & Lisa Foster. The dates are all on Thursdays – Nov 7, Nov 14 & Nov 21 from 7:00-8:00 pm. $50 for Members, $60 for Non-members. This is money well spent if you have a dog in need of a little training! You can register at any time!!

YMCA Updates – NEW & Noteworthy
07-30 – I know it’s nearly unbelievable… but our Back to School Holiday Program is coming up soon. Summer Camp will draw to a close on August 9, and we will host the Holiday Program on the 12th, 13th and 14th. And then it’s officially back to school. Where did the summer go?!?
06-10 - We still have tickets for the Gun Raffle! Here is all the information below…
05-29 – Beginning with the new Summer Session on June 3, Zumba will go to Mondays & Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 pm. Hope to see you there!
05-25 – The YMCA will be closed on Monday, May 28 to observe and celebrate Memorial Day. Enjoy the day! Endless thanks and grateful thoughts go out to all past, present and future military men and women who serve our wonderful country!
05-14 – Sending out a reminder that there is no Zumba this week (Tuesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 16).
05-14 – Please spread the word that the Elementary Night for Friday, May 16 has been cancelled. High School graduation is that evening. We want to thank all the kids and families that participated in our Elementary Nights throughout the school year. Thank you also to Hangar Board sponsor Jessica Collins and all 36 of our awesome Hangar Board teens who help out with these events! It would not be possible without you! See you all again in September
05-07 – Preschool teacher Sheri Henson is retiring after teaching, leading and caring for children for many years at the YMCA! She formerly owned and operated Mrs. Sheri’s Little Red School House. Family, friends and past students are invited to attend her last program on Friday, May 10 at 6:30 pm. Or, feel free to come for the Open House immediately following around 7:30 pm at Lake Ridge Christian Church in the Family Life Center. Please call the YMCA at 217-466-9622 for further questions.
04-01 – The Annual Meeting for the Paris YMCA is scheduled for April 17 at 6:00 pm in The Hangar. You are invited to attend this very important meeting! We will be honoring important people who have helped us to live up to our commitment as a YMCA by demonstrating youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Join us as we recognize them and to help ensure another great year at the YMCA!
03-29 – Due to the Easter Holiday, the YMCA will be closed on Sunday, March 31st. Happy Easter everyone!!
03-28 – Spring Session III is right around the corner! What does this mean? Our Y sessions programs will come to their 7 week end and then restart all over again! All Fitness Classes, Black Lotus JuJitsu and Tumbling will start their new session on Monday, April 8th. You can register for any and all of these right now!
03-01 – The Annual Auction has come and gone yet again. We had a spectacular evening! ”A Royal Celebration” brought in a total of $36,532.00 to keep our doors open, allowing us to continue our commitment of serving the community through quality programming. Words cannot express how thankful we are for every single person who was involved in the event. Without even one of those people, our night would not have been the same. 02-25 – Anna Murphy’s Monday night Yoga class is currently on a one month hiatus. We will keep you posted as to when she will begin class again. We offer two other Yoga classes to help tide you over until Anna returns! Check out our fitness flyer for days and times.
02-20 – Our annual auction is fast approaching! In preparation for this massive event, we will be closing our main gym on Wednesday at 8:00 am. The auction committee will be busy decorating and setting up for Saturday night. All fitness classes, basketball practices and open gym from Wednesday until Sunday will not be available. The gym will reopen on Sunday at 1:00 pm for the Men’s Basketball League. All other aspeccts of the Y will be running as normal. The entire Y will close early at 1:00 pm on Saturday to further prepare for the evenings events. We hope for a wonderful evening full of fun, mingling and bidding to help keep our YMCA continuing to serve the community! Pictures to follow!
02-11 – We have added two new fitness classes to our repertoire! Zumba will be instructed by Adrienne Hall and Dancing Through the Decades will be instructed by Bridgett Trover. Come be a part of these new classes and experiences!
01-29 – As an extension of love and kindess to our community, we are offering a February Membership Special! If you join anytime from February 1st through the 14th, you will only pay $14! Plus, we will waive the join fee! If you have been considering joining the Y, this is a wonderful time to do it! Call the Y at 466-9622 for more detailed information.
01-04 – It’s a brand new year and we are renewing our commitment to the community and our members to offer family friendly programs at reasonable prices. We hope to have many new and exciting things to share with you over the next year! Our Winter/ Spring brochure is printed and ready to be mailed to your home! Please check out all we have to offer for the next several months. We are here to help you fulfill your New Year’s resolutions as best we can !
12-15 – We are getting closer and closer to the end of the year and many of our programs are winding down. Please keep up with us on Facebook for important updates and announcements. Right now we are currently in Intersession, which means that most programs are no longer going on until after the holidays. However, there are a few fitness classes still running – Kickboxing: Dec 19 and Dec 26, and Morning Fitness: Dec 17, 19and 21, 26 and 28. Please call the Y at 217.466.9622 to double check before you come up here!
12-03 – We have a special membership offer for the month of December… If you join this month, we will put your name in a drawing to win a free Y membership for 6 months! Please call or reply to this post to get more information on pricing. This could be a great way to kick off the holidays
11-30 – The Paris Y offers holiday programs for parents who might have to work on the days around specific holidays and need a safe place for their kids to stay and play. One of our longest holiday programs is coming up, beginning on December 21. You can pick and choose which days you need and trust our certified staff to care for your children!
11-28 – A brand new class will be arriving in December for all of you who enjoy handcrafted items and Pinterest projects Joy Wright will be teaching ages 10 and up how to make jewelry! 11-27 – Need some extra cash for the holidays? The United Way is hosting a cash raffle with 37 chances to win holiday cash!! At only $10 per ticket, you could win a good chunk of change. Prizes go as follows: 1 – $1,000, 2 – $500, 4 – $250, 10 – $100, and 20 – $50. The drawing will be on December 7th at 7:00pm at the Twin Lakes West Lake Santa House. You do not need to be present to win. You can pick up your tickets at the Y and several other places. This money goes toward benefitting and supporting the United Way, which in turn helps to support several Paris non-profit organizations, including the Y. Thank you in advance for any and all support!

11-16 – Elementary Night tonight from 7-9 pm at The Hangar!! We’ve got new music in the iPod mix, so the kids (and Hangar Board teens) will be dancing like crazy from start to finish Tomorrow morning is Youth Basketball and then Indoor Soccer at 1:15. Finishing up the weekend on Sunday with the Men’s Basketball League. It’s their last games of the season…we will break for Thanksgiving weekend and host the single elimination tourney on Dec. 2nd and 9th. It’s gonna be a busy weekend full of sports and fun!

10-11 – The Volleyball Clinic is right around the corner! 4 hours of instruction for girls in the 4th, 5th and 6th grade. Only a max of 20 girls, so hurry in!
10-05 – Here are the results for both the Honeybee 5K as well as the 1 Mile Fun Run/ Walk. Thanks to all who participated and we hope to see you again next year!
10-01 - Congratulations to all the participants of our annual 5K race and fun run/ walk! We are so proud to honor and remember the life and sacrifice of Shawna Morrison. And we are so very thankful to everyone who supports our YMCA, the 1544th and all our nation’s soldiers, and the pursuit of healthy living through walking and running! Pictures soon to follow!
09-28 – Honeybee Race is tomorrow morning! Woohoo! We are very excited for all of the festival events this weekend. Wishing everyone a very happy weekend and lots of endurance for the race!
09-24 – Are you ready to run??? The Honey Bee Festival is this weekend and that means our annual Shawna Morrison Memorial Run is Saturday morning!! Registration opens up at 7:00 am, the Fun Run/ Walk starts at 7:45 am and the 5K begins shortly after at 8:30 am. Download the registration sheets on our Facebook page in the photo section. It’s not too late to sign up!! Come out to the Paris West Lake, get in a quick run and head back up to the square to support our town’s Parade!
09-21 – We have several things going on this weekend and next week…. Elementary Night tonight from 7-9pm for kids in grades 3-5. Youth Soccer League games tomorrow morning at 10 and 11 am and the Fall Frenzy Coed Softball Tournament tomorrow as well, with proceeds benefitting the YMCA Dance Studio 109. There’s more Youth Soccer on Monday and Tuesday evening, and then the big Honeybee race next Saturday!!
09-10 - Lots of activities going on this week! Fitness classes, School’s Out, Dance and Tumbling are going full force, Youth Soccer practices all this week, Elementary Night next Friday night, the Honey Bee 5K race next Saturday morning, and the Honey Bee Lock-In next Saturday night. It’s busy, busy, busy!
09-04 – Today marks the beginning of the new fall session! Come to Zumba Fitness tonight with Susan Imeroni from 5:15-6:15 pm in the front gym!

08-17 – School has officially begun and that means that we are going to get busy around the Y! All sorts of programs are ready to start, from School’s Out Afterschool Program to Dance Studio 109 to Youth Soccer to JuJitsu to Fall Fitness Classes to Adult Men’s Basketball to Tumbling and much more!
